Festival 7

The 7th Asian American Festival was held on September 9, 2017, on Boston Common.

The 2022 yearbook does not name a theme, a performer roster, or a sponsor list for this edition.

Attendance and program (as stated in the chronology)

The chronology states that more than 100 merchant booths were set up, more than 20 Asian groups performed, and more than 30,000 people visited. Those figures are recorded in the yearbook; they are not independently verified here.

Then–Boston City Council President Michelle Wu spoke at the scene about the Asian American Day statutory document.

A later press report on the 9th festival (Youping Wen, China-US Innovation Times, September 17, 2019) describes three consecutive Common-year celebrations (6th–8th) with performances, food, parades, and exhibitions. That 2019 paragraph is a combined description; the numbered counts above are the 2017 chronology’s own figures.

The same 2019 article says that in recent years each festival also held a concert in Lexington. The 2017 chronology does not name a 7th Lexington date or program, so no Lexington concert is listed here as a confirmed 7th event.

Organizers

Hosted by the Association. The December 3, 2016 merchant-meeting article (reprinted in the yearbook) encouraged businesses to take part in the 7th festival; that was a pre-event appeal, not a report from September 9, 2017.

Same year, not this festival

On February 17, 2017, AAAB signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Yuexinhui’s Smart Women platform at Joy Heart Club. That signing is not the festival.

Photograph

The yearbook chronology does not include a photograph labeled as the 7th festival on Boston Common. A 2017 certificate photograph sits in the 2017 block but is not captioned as the Common celebration, so it is not used as a cover or gallery photo for this edition.

This page is a recap of a festival that has already been held. It is not a notice of an upcoming event.
