Festival 14

The 14th Asian American Day Festival, with Blue Ocean Realty as title sponsor, was held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, on Boston Common.

Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, the Massachusetts General Court, and the Boston City Council recognized AADay’s work for diversity and presented the Asian American Association of Boston (AAAB) with commendation certificates.

Parade, anthem, and commendations

At 10:00 a.m., after an opening carnival parade of more than 40 participating groups, the festival opened with the U.S. national anthem sung by child performers Mirabel Weston and James Yeh, with the Boston Eastern Heritage Chorus.

Pan Yan, Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office at the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in New York, said he was honored to represent the Consulate General and expressed respect for Chairman Klysler Yen.

Hung Goon, former chairman of the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association of New England, and AAAB director Robert Wu read commendations from the Massachusetts General Court and State Auditor Diana DiZoglio. Organizing-committee member Gary Yu read Governor Maura Healey’s certificate. Boston City Councilor Ed Flynn delivered a commendation in person and spoke. Chulan Huang, Chinatown liaison in Mayor Wu’s office, presented a commendation on behalf of Mayor Michelle Wu.
